The Clinical Director at the FA’s new training facility, Charlotte Cowie is very pleased with the results of the Swiss DolorClast Shockwave Therapy (SWT) machine. The machine was installed when the facility opened in October 2012 and has demonstrated its usefullness when treating professional footballers.

Shock Wave Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis

Charlotte said: “We’ve used the device to treat cases of Plantar Fasciitis and the results have been good. We have been keen to offer SWT as a treatment option because it is non-invasive and has an evidence base behind it.

“I was a bit sceptical about ESWT in the beginning but the results I’ve seen have been successful and, as a clinician, I feel very comfortable administering the treatment.”
